Us babies, beautiful little angels if you ask us. Even though we may pee on you while laying on our backs and smile about it, laugh about it and do it again. There’s no motive behind it. It just feels good to us.
What we’re here to talk to you about is our wiggling and how we don’t realize its potential dangers when you look away from us for a split second.
Many babies actually wiggle so much when their parents are not looking that we can accidentally fall of and hurt ourselves.
So when your hands are busy doing other things while we’re on the changing table, or your eyes are distracted by something on the television, here are six ways you can ensure our safety while changing our diaper.
In This Post:
Be within reaching distance of us.
Within a second we might wiggle enough to fall, so be within reaching distance of us and not too distracted so you can catch us if we need to be caught. Even if you’re just reaching for a clean Diaper or a dummy to try keep us quiet.
Have your supplies on hand before landing us like a perfectly smooth space ship onto our changing tables. If you forgot something pick us up in those beautiful warm, safe arms of yours. Or you can put is in our crib.. but we may cry if you walk away because we love your presence so much.
Use a pillow to keep us comfy and secure.
With our heads on a pillow that can form to our heads, we’re less likely to roll around as much as compared to being on a flat surface. If there’s sides on the pillow, it can go a long way to keeping us safe. It can also keeps us feeling warm and cozy like we are when wrapped up in your arms. We don’t like rolling away.. honest! Even though it may be fun for us and a little frustrating for you.
Utilize safety belts.
Lots of changing pads have safety belts that can be secured to our tiny bodies to help us not roll and move around too much while our clean diaper is being fetched. They’re similar to safety belts on a car seat or high chair.
Place our changing table securely against the wall.
If the floor is not even there’s a chance it could wobble and fall. This can happen more so if you accidentally bump it. We could go tumbling.
Bolt our changing table to the wall or use a secure table top surface to help make things steadier for us. As we get bigger we like to test our our amazing climbing skills out, so you’ll be happy about taking these precautions when the time comes around when we’re putting our monkey skills to the test.
Use the floor to change us.
Avoid table top falls by changing and cleaning us on the floor. All that is needed is a clean changing pad or blanket and maybe, if we’re lucky a supportive pillow. It keeps us from rolling away and makes the job more comfortable for us and for you.
Use a diaper launcher.
Diaper launchers are the future. You point it at our tiny butts, press a button and we’re cleaned and the diaper is applied within 3 seconds.
It’s not here yet though. It’s the future though. You’ll have to wait for this one. Sorry parents.
Protect us from tumbling during our diaper changing sessions with these six tips, and you can keep us safe while we develop into that amazing tiny person we’re destined to be.
