Mommies to be – when the time is almost coming and giving birth can happen anytime, the excitement can make you feel ecstatic and out of focus sometimes. We get that. It’s normal to be exceedingly delighted at the thought of meeting your baby for the first time. Too excited that you may forget some of the important stuff to bring in your hospital bag.Don’t worry. We can help you with that. Here is a checklist of the 10 essential things new moms must have in their hospital bags.
- Extra undies and absorbent pads
After you give birth, you might be experiencing some slight bleeding which is pretty normal. Make sure you bring absorbent pads for your bleeding. Also, bring extra underwear to keep yourself comfortable while in the hospital.
- Nursing bra
Hospitals follow the “breastfeeding” policy and strongly encourages moms to breastfeed their newborn babies. Bring 2-3 nursing bras to make it easy for you to feed your baby without the hassle of regular bra.
- Nightgowns
The most comfortable thing to wear after giving birth – nightgowns. Instead of bringing home your regular clothes, since you will be staying inside the room most of the time anyway, bring your nightgowns and wear them for added comfort for yourself.
- Warm socks and slippers
Warm socks are for during the night or when the temperature could drop, to keep your toes warm and comfy. Slippers are for when you go down from the hospital bed. Bring along your maternity pajamas as well. These can keep you warm and you can wear them when you go home.
- Toiletries and personal items
Although hospital toiletries are well trusted products, you might want to use your own, especially if you follow a specific product for your personal regimen.
- Cell phone and charger
Don’t forget to bring your mobile phone with you. It’s your contact to the outside world to tell everyone of the great news. Of course, you should bring the charger as well.
- Soft pillow
Some hospital pillows can be hard and it can give you stiff neck or back pains. To avoid this, bring your own pillow to keep yourself comfortable.
- Snacks and some candies
During wait-times and in-between meals, you can munch on some snacks and candies. They can also help boost your strength which you will need to regain after giving birth. It does not, however, substitute for a full meal.
- Going-home outfit for the baby
The first time your baby sees the world, you will want it to be special. Pack a pair of outfit for the baby when you go home.
- A ‘newborn care’ book
As a first time mom, you will want to learn everything about taking care of your newborn. Bring along a book for newborn care in your bag to read during waiting time.Now that you have a checklist to go through, you don’t have to be anxious about “the bag” anymore. All you need to do is wait with delight for the right moment when you finally meet your little bundle of joy.
