The economy isn’t pretty, but you can still make ends meet for yourself and your family. With layoffs, taxes, rent payments and buying groceries, it can be difficult to set aside enough money to make ends meet. While times may be tough, you can staunch your financial hemorrhaging by using these 10 ways to make ends meet on a constricted family budget.
Get Your Finances in Shape: Here’s How!
1. Use public transportation, carpool or consider selling any extra cars
Gas prices are rising, which can make running one car, let alone two, very expensive. Consider using public transportation to save money on gas. If your job or that of a family member requires the use of a car, you can carpool and take turns dropping one another off.
2. Buy groceries in bulk, and consider investing in a club card
Keep an eye out for big discounts in stores. If you live near a large grocery store or club, it may be wise to get a club card for a long-term discount on bulk items. Most types of food are cheaper in bulk, and you will save a lot of money on gas and groceries by making fewer trips for more food.

Fostering a sharing and caring environment at home is nothing short of difficult. Especially for twins, who are often times expected to be each other’s best friends, expectations can be overwhelming.
Bunk beds for your twins can grant them individual spaces while still learning valuable lessons about compromise and cooperation. The bunk bed helps save space in the kids’ room while your twins work together toward a common goal, whether it be making the bed or deciding who gets to sleep on the top bunk. Comfortable, secure, stylish, and a space saver, bunk beds can also be a vital learning tool for teaching your kids an important lesson in cohabitation.

When you are expecting a new baby, chances are you want everything to be perfect for when he or she arrives. This includes the nursery, which can often be an expensive room to decorate. Fortunately there are ways to decorate a nursery without breaking the bank. All it takes is a little time, planning, and effort, and your little one’s nursery will look just as good as those pricey, high-end nurseries you see on television and the internet.
Develop a Budget
The first step in decorating a nursery on a budget is actually formulating the budget itself. This will give you an idea of what you can afford to spend when it comes to decorations and furnishings. When you have a general figure, you should then create a list of items that are absolutely necessary for your baby’s nursery. This list should include items such as a crib, dresser, and changing table. These are the things that you must purchase to give your little one what he or she needs. After you make a list of needs, then proceed with a list of “wants.” These are the things you want the nursery to have, but can forego if your budget does not permit them.

You’ve heard it said that being a mother is the equivalent to holding several jobs. A mother is a laundromat operator, a driver, a housekeeper, a personal organizer, a chef, a banker, a teacher, and a psychologist. Add all a mom’s duties together and she should be earning a six-figure salary!
The job of a single mother, though, brings the added responsibility of providing financially for the family. In this two-income world, finding a way to keep the family functioning on only income can be difficult. Difficult, but not impossible.
Here are four things every single mother can do to help her family be financially viable.
