When my girls finally got to leave the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the nurses gave them cute little shirts saying “NICU Graduate” with the hospital name and year on them. They have since stopped giving them away due to budget restraints which I totally understand – I’m all for keeping healthcare costs down. Are you a Savvy or Shoddy parent?

After I watched the above funny-but-realistic video entitled “How to recover from a Potty Mouth moment” (witty & humorous part of the “Are you a Savvy Parent?” Video Series), I realized that I haven’t been the best role model for my kids. I can totally relate to the mom in the video. I have to admit my language has gotten more vulgar since my divorce, and it has now carried over to my children. I’ve caught them swearing as well. When I call them on it, they respond, “Well, you say it.” True that. Reality moment, indeed. I’m going to try to go a full week without swearing. We’ll see how it goes.
