Encourage Individuality in Sisters

Posted by kim on October 9, 2006

I remember as a young girl, my mother would sew matching dresses for her and I to wear to church.  I thought it was cool.  Nowadays, my girls would probably laugh at the thought of a such a thing as us dressing alike.  They’d probably laugh more at my attempt to sew.

When my twin daughters were little, I always dressed them in matching outfits.  I actually thought it was fun, and of course, they were oh so cute.  But as soon as they were old enough to dress themselves, their individualities came through, and they haven’t dressed the same since.  And since they aren’t identical, not even the same height, no one that doesn’t know them would ever guess they are twins.

One of my pet peeves is when mothers dress their daughters that are not twins in identical outfits.  I’ve always felt this way, even before I had twins – don’t ask my why.  You see this most when the sisters are close in age.  Does the mother secretly wish they were twins?  I think too far into things….

Can You Imagine this Daily Stroll?

My friend, Lizabeth of TheDailyStroll.com, raised $1500 in 4 days for a new RunAbout 6 Seat Stroller for the Gosselin family. The Gosselins are proud parents of a set of sextuplets AND twins! Oh my. Read their story at SixGosselins.com.

Welcome!

I created PreemieTwins.com after my twin daughters were born over 13 weeks before their due date in 1994 with several complications. Read about my daughters’ roller coaster ride in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and how they are doing now.

As you read, both of my twins developed Necrotizing EnteroColitis. I am conducting an ongoing survey of infants who develop Necrotizing EnteroColitis. If you would like to participate, Click Here. I hope you enjoy your visit and find it helpful.

I invite you to share your Preemie Twins story, participate in our studies, and partake in our resources. I plan use this blog to keep you all up to date, not only about my twins and family, but current happenings at PreemieTwins.com. Past Updates can be Found Here.
