I have been looking around for easy baby shower games. I have found so many games in my research, games I have never heard of before- but then I am not a regular baby shower attendee. For those of you that have gone to or have given more than your share of baby showers I am sure you have heard of most of these games. I am writing this for my fellow novices who find themselves the host of a baby shower with no idea what to do.

What Games Should Be Played at a Baby Shower?

A baby shower is a joyful occasion to celebrate the upcoming arrival of a little bundle of joy. When it comes to games, there are plenty of fun options to keep everyone entertained. Classic games like Baby Bingo, Guess the Baby Food, and Diaper Derby are always a hit. You can also get creative with activities like Onesie Decoration, Baby Name Race, or Baby Photo Match-Up. Remember to choose games that are inclusive, light-hearted, and bring out the laughter and excitement. The goal is to create lasting memories and celebrate the mom-to-be in a fun-filled and memorable way.

How Many Games Should Be Played at a Baby Shower?

When planning a baby shower, it’s important to strike the right balance between entertainment and allowing space for guests to socialize and enjoy each other’s company. Typically, including 2 to 3 games is a good number for a baby shower. This allows for enough fun and engagement without overwhelming the event. You can choose games that cater to different interests and preferences, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Remember, the focus is on creating a warm and joyful atmosphere where guests can celebrate the mom-to-be and the upcoming arrival of the little one.

What Is the Order of Activities for a Baby Shower?

A baby shower is a special occasion filled with love and excitement, and planning the order of activities can help create a smooth and enjoyable event. The order of activities can vary, but a common flow includes welcoming guests, introducing the mom-to-be, playing games, opening gifts, and enjoying refreshments and treats. It’s a good idea to start with icebreaker activities to help guests mingle, followed by games and activities that keep the energy high. Opening gifts can be a heartwarming moment, and wrapping up with delicious food and delightful conversations allows everyone to cherish the memories made during the baby shower.

1. Baby Name Game

Hand out paper and pens and have the guests come up with baby names from each letter of the alphabet. Whoever finishes first wins the prize.

2. Baby Price is Right Game

Purchase baby items and put them on a tray. Make sure you keep the receipt so you know the prices. Have everyone guess the price of each item and then have them give a grand total of their guesses. Whoever is closest to the correct total wins. Or you could also do it item by item.

3. Baby Pictionary

I know some people love the Pictionary game and some hate it but I happen to be on the love side. I think this game would be great fun at a shower and get everyone working together for their team. Make up index cards with anything having to do with a baby (i.e., changing diapers, burping the baby, etc.) and split into two teams. I would have the teams on opposite sides of the room so that they could not see both artists to be fair. The host shows one member of each team the word and they draw until someone guesses the right answer. The team with the most correct answers wins.

4. Pin the Pacifier on the Baby

Hopefully you are artistic or you have an artistic friend. It does not have to be perfect. Draw a baby on a piece of poster board and cuta paper pacifier for each guest out of different colored construction paper. Have the guest write their name on their pacifier. Just like in pin the tail on the donkey you blindfold them and spin them around and see who gets closest to the babies mouth with the pacifier.

5. Guess Mommies Tummy Size

This is an old stand-by game that everyone seems to have fun with. At many parties I have been to they have used toilet paper but you can also use yarn or string. You would have to pass out scissors with the latter. Have each person cut or tear off a length of t-paper or string that they think would fit around the mommy-to-be’s stomach. The one that is closest to the right size wins.

6. How Many Baby Items Can You Name

Give everyone a piece of paper and pen and set a five minute timer. Have them list as many baby items as they can think of in that five minute time frame. The one that listed the most is the winner.

7. Who Can Make the Mother-To-Be’s Baby

Depending on the amount of people you have at your shower this can be done alone or by dividing everyone into teams. Give three baby magazines to each team/individual along with scissors, glue, and paper. Have each team cut out features from different babies trying to match what they think the new baby will look like. The mother-to-be is the judge and picks the winning baby. This could get interesting!

8. Guess How Many Diapers

They play this game in many different versions. You can either get a container and fill it with diaper pins, clothes pins, or just about any baby item you can think of and let your guests guess how many and the closest wins. Others I have heard about use larger containers of some sort, like a diaper pail for example, and fill it with diapers and have them guess how many. Then the mother-to-be ends up with all the diapers (or other baby items) and the one who guessed closest wins.

9. What Is in the Diaper Game

The Diaper Game is a fun and hilarious activity that adds laughter to any baby shower. In this game, various candy bars are melted and placed inside diapers, making them resemble, well, dirty diapers! The goal is for guests to examine each “dirty” diaper and guess which candy bar it represents. It’s a lighthearted and entertaining way to engage everyone and test their senses of smell and humor. The person with the most correct guesses wins a prize, but in the end, everyone enjoys the laughter and memorable moments shared during this amusing game.

10. Baby Shower Trivia Game

For this game you will need to either look up some interesting trivia on babies or recruit someone to do it for you. For example: What is the average weight of a new born baby? What is the most popular baby girl/boy name this past year? What color do most people paint their babies bedroom? How many diapers does a baby use in one year? You can have teams to see who gets the most answers right, or at least comes the closest to the right answer!

11. Finish the Baby Rhyme

This game can be a lot of fun and requires that you have a book or some popular baby rhymes written down. Say a baby rhyme with one of the words left out and see how well your guests know the popular baby rhymes. For example, “Little Jack Horner, sat in the corner, eating a ______.” Have them write down their answers and then each person shares their answer with the group after each rhyme. It can get silly with some of the words people come up with. The person who got the most right wins the prize.

12. Guess the Baby Picture

This game will kind of depend on how well your guests know each other. If you have a shower where everyone knows each other pretty well then have each guest bring a picture of themselves as a baby. Then the host can make a collage with the pictures leaving a space below the picture for everyone to guess who it is. They can put their initials next to their guess. The one who guesses most of the pictures correct wins the prize.

13. Baby Scrambler

Make a list of about twenty or twenty-five baby items and scramble the letters. The one who can unscramble the most words in five minutes is the winner.

14. Baby Bottle Drinking Game

I personally have played this game at a shower. Most of the contestants could not stop laughing long enough to drink or should I say suck? Get several small baby bottles and fill them with punch and have a contest to see who can drink (or suck) the most punch in the time limit set. This gets very silly and some cannot bring themselves to do it at all.

15. Stand Up, Sit Down

Make up a list of statements for the mom-to-be. Have all the guests stand up and have the mom-to-be put her back to the crowd. Have statements written like, if you have on red nail polish then sit down, if you have on high heels sit down, or if you have on pink lipstick sit down. The last one standing wins.

16. Tic-Tac-Toe Farm Animals

This one sounds really cute and a lot of fun! Everyone draws a tic-tac-toe grid on their paper. Then fill in each square with the number of their choice from one and twenty. At the bottom of the page they write the name of their favorite farm animal. The host or mommy-to-be calls out random numbers in the number range. If they call out a number on a guests card the guest marks off that number on their card and they are then required to answer with the sound of whatever animal they chose. I would probably be a lot more fun if you left out this part of the instructions until they finished writing their animal! For example, if they picked a cow they have to moo. Whoever marks off all their numbers first wins the prize.

I hope these games help you in planning your next baby shower. I found out about another kind of party they are having for moms that are having a second, third, etc. baby as well. They are calling it a baby sprinkle party since these mothers probably do not need as many baby items as a new mom. They just need a few things, thus, a sprinkle instead of a shower! I think this is a very cute idea and a practical one as well.
