Are your twins Fraternal or Identical?

Posted September 10th, 2007 by kim in Macy & Mallory, Twin News

Twin DNA TestIn the womb, my twins had two sacks, but only one placenta, so the doctors said they could either be identical or fraternal. And when they were born, they looked pretty much identical except Macy had bigger feet! But as they grow, we know they are nowhere near identical! But if you are unsure of whether your twins are fraternal or identical, Genetree offers a Twin Zygosity DNA test.  You simply order a test kit, take a cheek cell swab of each twin, send in sample and they notify you quickly with the results. Visit Genetree.com for more info.

Amazing TLC True Stories

Posted September 9th, 2007 by kim in Stories, Shauna

I haven’t got much work done today because I have The Learning Channel on, and it’s distracting me! So far, I’ve watched…

Kids by the Dozen - Spud and Miriam Heppner are the parents of 16 children, 9 still living at home! Getting everyone together for a weekend at the lake is easier said than done, but to the Heppners, family comes first.

Raising 16 Children, 16 Children and Moving In, On the Road with 16 Children about the Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar Family (who just gave birth to their 17th child last month!)

Twins, Twins & More Twins Mom, Dad, and thirteen kids, including three sets of twins. From preparing a teenager to drive, to anticipating the homecoming of premature identical twins, life at the Healy home is quite a balancing act. How they get it all done will amaze you.

The Boy With a New Head Petero Byakatonda was born with Crouzon’s Syndrome, a rare condition that meant his head was shaped like a cone and his eyes bulged out of his skull. He now needs surgery or he will die- this is his story as he tries to get the help he needs to live.

Joined For Life: Abby and Brittany Turn 16 Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel are about to turn 16- that means they’re very busy with schoolwork, sports, social activities and, yes, testing for their drivers license. To most this seems extraordinary, but to the girls it’s just another day.

After this show, I’m shutting the television off!

P.S. Shauna was having pains today so went to be checked out, just for sure. They are thinking it is just Braxton-Hicks contractions. Let’s hope so.

Shauna: 25 week Preg Check

Posted September 1st, 2007 by kim in Shauna

Shauna went in for an OB check on Wednesday. Baby Boy B is sitting very low, and Shauna is having a lot of pressure, so the doctor wanted to check her cervix, but it is still closed and not thinning, so that is good news. But since she is having so much pressure, he told her to sit as much as possible as work now (she is an orthodontist assistant). She has only gained 10 pounds so far throughout the pregnancy, and her glucose test was normal (good, no gestational diabetes).
